Breakfast and Lunch Meals
All students eat free! KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is a participant in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The CEP is an alternative to collecting, approving, and verifying household eligibility applications for free and reduced price eligible students in high poverty local educational agencies (LEAs) for schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Community eligibility has a number of benefits to students and schools. It helps schools reduce administrative costs related to collecting and processing applications and tracking students based on meal eligibility status. Participating schools no longer have to collect payments during the meal service. It also helps students because families no longer have to complete meal applications and it can reduce stigma because all students are eating meals at no cost, regardless of their income status.
For grades 9-12, students will utilize public transportation (MARTA) to get to and from school. The school provides free weekly MARTA cards to students who are eligible to receive free and reduced lunch. Because the school provides MARTA passes for students and they will be representing our school, students are exprected to maintain scholarly behavior while on the train and/or bus. Parents/guadians who provide transportation for their children are exprected to drop off and pick up their children in a timely manner.
