There Are No Shortcuts
At KIPP Vision Academy, we believe there are no shortcuts to success. Our teachers, students and parents sign the KIPP Commitment to Excellence to ensure everyone understands the dedication and hard work it takes to obtain a college education. To ensure all students obtain the knowledge and skills they need to be successful on the “climb to college,” we offer more time in school. Students attend school each week day from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm. We provide additional tutoring on select Saturdays throughout the year. Additionally, KIPP Vision Academy begins the regular school year with a summer session to introduce our new students to all our routines and procedures and it provide opportunities for our returning students to adjust to the new school year and routines.
Our Academic Program
FOCUS ON LITERACY
Through a partnership with the Rollins Center, KIPP Vision teachers will receive ongoing professional development in the best practices of teaching literacy. As a result, students will develop the literacy skills needed to become proficient readers.
FOCUS ON SCIENCE
Students will be challenged to explore the wonders of science, using a hands-on, inquiry-based approach. In addition, students will be engaged in a Green Curriculum where students will develop an awareness of environmental challenges that face the planet, and learn ways to help solve them.
The academic program of KIPP Vision Academy is designed to challenge every student to achieve at or above grade level performance in all academic subjects. The school is prepared for the challenge of equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and scholarly habits necessary for success in an academically rigorous college preparatory high school. The school’s curriculum is based upon the Georgia Performance Standards, but is accelerated and taught rigorously to ensure that students are prepared for a college preparatory high school upon completion of the 8th grade. It is the goal of the problem-based green curriculum, to increase the students’:
- Research skills
- Inquiry skills
- Presentation skills
- Literacy skills
- Data analysis
- Team collaboration skills
- Intrinsic learning
- Social responsibility for their communities
- Community bonds between KVA and the surrounding community
- Levels of FUN!!
Work Hard. Be Nice.
KIPP Vision Academy issues “Reward Dollars” for both individual students and classes of students as a reward to those students or classes that exhibit the values of KIPP Vision Academy. Students receive paychecks on a weekly basis reflecting their gain or loss of Reward Dollars and therefore their progress in upholding the values of the school. Homework completion and behavior reports also are reflected in the school’s paycheck system. Reward Dollar totals determine group or individual awards as well as field trip participation.
Our students work extremely hard, and we reward that effort with fun activities and enrichments that ensure their long days are fun and engaging. At KIPP Vision Academy we offer the following extra-curricular activities:
- Debate Team
- Flag Football
- Visual Arts
End-of-the Year Field Lesson Destinations
We also provide our students the opportunity to experience life outside their community, state and country. At the end of each school year, we take our students on out-of-state field lessons to make their classroom learning come to life and to provide them with adventures they might not have the opportunity to experience. At KIPP Vision Academy we have traveled to Washington, DC and will be embarking on a journey with our 8th grade scholars to Ghana! It is impossible to provide these oportunities to our scholars with out the help of our community, special friends and families. We would love for you to be apart of our village!

A powerful moment, in 2007, when our 8th grade KIPP WAYS scholars had a naming ceremony in Ghana. The were all given Ashanti names that have a special meaning.
