KIPP Vision Academy Staff


Curry Andrews, 8th Grade Science Teacher
Curry serves as the 8th Grade Science Teacher. Previously, she served as a Teach for America corps member teaching 8th grade science in St. Louis. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where she earned a B.A. in Communications.

Justin Bartley, Music Teacher
Justin is the Music teacher for KIPP Vision Academy and KIPP Vision Primary. Previously, he served as the Music teacher at Atlanta Preparatory Academy for three years and he has worked in the education and youth development field for nine years.  Justin has various notable musical experiences as a trombonist as well as a music producer/composer.  He received his BA in Sociology from Georgia State University.

Chenneil Brown, Learning Specialist
Chenneil is the Learning Specialist.  She has served as Special Education Coordinator, District Mentor, and Community Teacher within Special Education working with students exhibiting a vast spectrum of exceptionalities from the ages of birth to college. Chenneil received her Master of Education degree from Wilmington University and a Dual Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Business Administration.

Ayana Cofer, Dance Teacher
Ayana Cofer is the Dance Teacher. With her 26 years of experience as a dancer, choreographer, and performer, she has grown committed to working with youth, the arts, and leadership support. Previously, she has taught at Spelman College’s youth dance program, The Dancer’s Warehouse, and for the Fulton County Arts Council. She has danced with various companies who have performed all over the country. She has a BA in Sociology with a focus in dance from Spelman College. 

Jerrod M. Compton, 6th Grade Math Teacher
Jerrod is the 6th grade Mathematics teacher at KIPP Vision Academy. Prior to working with KIPP he served as Senior Manager for the Junior Achievement Fellows program, an afterschool entrepreneurship program for high school students. He has also worked in the education sector from an international perspective when he served in the Peace Corps and taught grades K – 8 in the Republic of Palau. He has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Morehouse College and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Mercer University. 

Tarik Davis, 5th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Tarik serves as the 5th grade Social Studies Teacher.  He joined KIPP Vision Academy as an Educational Assistant in its founding year.  Tarik has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades for five years prior to teaching at KIPP Vision Academy. Tarik received his B.S. from Devry University and is in the process of completing his MAT at Mercer University.

Tasha Davis, Dean of Culture
Tasha is the Dean of Culture. Previously, she served as an Academic Director at Explore Charter School in Brooklyn, New York. In the four years she was at Explore Charter School she was also a School Culture Coordinator for the K-8 school population and a third grade teacher. Tasha's teaching career spans ten years and she has taught in Colorado, California and New York. She has a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and a MAT from Grand Canyon University. 

Thaddeus Dawsey, 8th Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher
Thaddeus is the 8th Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher.  He began teaching with the Huntsville City School system in Huntsville, Alabama at Butler High School where he taught history and volunteered as a reading specialist and was an assistant football coach for the football team.  He later moved to Lee High School where he taught ninth grade English, eleventh grade AP English, and twelfth grade English. He eventually became assistant department chair. Thaddeus is a graduate of Alabama A&M University where he received his BA in English and history and a Master’s Degree.

Devin Fairrow, 5th Grade Science Teacher
Devin serves as the 5th grade Science Teacher.  He previously served as the fifth grade math and science teacher at Central Elementary School in Hayneville, Alabama. He began his career in education as a Teacher for America corps member in Alabama.  He has a BS from the University of Louisville and an EdM from the University of Alabama.  

James Flagg, Building Engineer
James is the Building Engineer. Previously, he worked in the residential construction trade specializing in the design and construction of all forms of hardscapes, as well as major renovation projects. His knowledge of general mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC spans more than 21 years.

Tanya Flagg, Campus Business Operations Manager
Tanya is the Campus Business Operations Manager for KIPP Vision Academy. She previously worked in accounting for the past 18 years for multiple entities serving as Accounts Payable Manager, Accounting Associate and Payroll Specialist. Tanya also has a son that currently attends boarding school at St. Andrews Sewanee in Tennessee and is a recent graduate from KIPP South Fulton Academy.

Shavonne Floyd, 7th Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher
Shavonne is the 7th Grade Reading Teacher.  She has been teaching going on five years now, with three of those years being with KIPP. Throughout her career she has taught grades 5th-8th in subjects such as: English, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and girls Health and PE. Shavonne has a BA in English from Tuskegee University and a MA in Education from National University.

Leia Francis, Office Manager/Executive Assistant
Leia serves as the Office Manager/Executive Assistant for KIPP Vision Academy and KIPP Vision Primary. She attained her Bachelor’s Degree from Clark Atlanta University in Finance. She has extensive experience in finance and accounting. Leia also brings creativity, flair, among many other wonderful characteristics to the KIPP Vision Campus.

Kwadwo Gyasi, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Kwadwo serves as the 8th grade Social Studies Teacher. As a founding staff member, he previously served as the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade social studies teacher. He is a former TFA corps member and business owner who coordinated KIPP WAYS' historic journey to Ghana, West Africa in 2007.  He has a BA from Morehouse College and an MA from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. 

Ashley Halsey, 5th Grade Math Teacher
Ashley is the 5th Grade Math teacher. Previously, she worked as a Project Manager at Qualvu, a qualitative marketing research company. Ashley also worked as a Member Services Associate at World 50, a senior-level executive networking company. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Carolyn Hardaway, Social Worker
Carolyn serves as the school social worker for KIPP Vision Academy and KIPP Vision Primary. Previously, she served as the Foster Parent Liaison for Fulton County Department of Family & Children Services (DFCS). She also worked as a Family Intervention Specialist at Youth Villages, Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy and Practice.

Shannon Holmes, Student Support Team Coordinator
Shannon currently serves as the Student Support Team Coordinator. Previously, Shannon taught Middle School English and Humanities for one year in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She also worked as a seventh grade World History teacher for two years at a charter school in Washington, DC.  She earned her undergraduate degree from the George Washington University and her Master’s in Education – Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sean Irving, Art Teacher
Sean Irving is the Visual Arts teacher for both KIPP Vision Academy and KIPP Vision Primary. He has been an educator for almost 20 years. Throughout his career he has used his skills as a multi-media artist to enhance various academic subjects. He has also worked as a professional graphic designer, illustrator, muralist, videographer and radio DJ. He studied Media Communications and African-American Studies at San Francisco State University.

Solomon Jefferson, Upper School Dean
Solomon currently serves as the Upper School Dean at KIPP Vision Academy.  Previously, he served as the Instructional Coach and Leadership Support Specialist at Grove Park Elementary School in Atlanta Public Schools.  He has also served as a teacher with Vance County schools as a Teach for America corps member.  In 2009-2010 Solomon was also selected to be a part of Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent’s Academy for Building Leadership Excellence (SABLE) cohort 10.  He received a BA in Political Science and Social Science from Radford University, a Masters in Middle Grades Education from Mercer University and he has also earned his Educational Leadership Degree from Georgia State University.

Steve Jones, School Leader
Steven is the founding School Leader.  Previously he was a Fisher Fellow within the KIPP National leadership development program.  He spent a year visiting some of the highest performing KIPP middle schools in the country in order to learn best practices.  Before the Fisher Fellowship, Mr. Jones served as a Dean of KIPP WAYS Academy.  Mr. Jones has been with KIPP for seven years and has been an educator in Atlanta for 15 years.  Steve is a graduate of the University of Georgia, Mercer University and is currently completing an Education Leadership degree from National Louis University.

Kevin June, Maintenance Support Technician
Kevin is the Maintenance Support Technician. Previously, he was self-employed as a title contractor in New Jersey for twenty years. He has two years of college experience from Kean College of New Jersey.

Terri Knox, School Operations Manager
Terri is the School Operations Manager at KIPP Vision Academy and KIPP Vision Primary. Her teaching career includes six years of teaching music to all ages.  She has also worked at KIPP South Fulton Academy as the Theatre teacher.  She has earned a BS in Music Performance/Education from Florida A&M University located in Tallahassee, FL. Terri was also a member of the world renowned FAMU Marching “100”.

Latisha Lanham, Educational Assistant
Latisha currently serves as the Educational Assistant. Previously she was a volunteer for Hands On Atlanta, Aids Walk of Atlanta, and KIPP Vision Academy. She attended Clayton State University for her Associate of Business and is currently a pre-med student at Kennesaw State University.

Iris Lattimore, 7th Grade Math Teacher
Iris serves as the Seventh Grade Math teacher. She began her teaching career through the Nashville Teaching Fellows Program and has previously taught fourth grade.  Iris earned a B.A. in public policy and communication studies from the University of North Carolina as well as an MAT from Belmont University.

Jenee’ Lee, 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Jenee’ Lee is the 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher. Her teaching career began in Philadelphia with 6th grade students as an ILA and Science Teacher for five years. She has also worked with alternative high school students in Postsecondary Access and Success. Jenee’ received a BA in Elementary Education from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Meredith McCoy, 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Meredith is the 6th grade Social Studies teacher at KIPP Vision Academy. She has previously worked at KIPP Academy Nashville, where she taught Spanish, Reading, Writing, and History.  Meredith has a BA in Music and Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.Ed. in Teaching, Learning, and Leading from Lipscomb University. 

Ebonique Miller, 5th Grade Writing Teacher
Ebonique is the 5th Grade Writing Teacher.  She has worked with KIPP Metro Atlanta for many years, serving as the 7th grade educational assistant, grade level chair, and 7th grade English teacher at KIPP WAYS Academy. Ebonique received her Bachelor's Degree from Pacific Oaks College and is currently working on a Master's at Mercer University. 

Keosha Moon, Campus Director of Operations
Keosha is the Campus Director of Operations. Previously, she served as the Director of Marketing, Planning and Operations for Emory University’s MBA Career Management Center. She also worked as an Associate Consultant in Bain and Company’s Atlanta office. She has a BBA in Finance from Howard University and a MBA in Finance and Marketing from Emory University, Goizueta Business School.

Colin Mulholland, 6th Grade Science Teacher
Colin is the 6th Grade Science teacher at KIPP Vision Academy. Prior to joining KIPP, he served as a Teach for America corps member in Atlanta. Colin earned a BA/MA in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. 

Miaisha Nunnally, 8th Grade Math Teacher
Miaisha is the 8th Grade Math teacher. She is an alumnus of Teach for America, in which she taught 8th grade Math in Gwinnett County. Miaisha has a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Specialization in Accounting from The Ohio State University.

Seretha Ramsey, Cafeteria Manager
Seretha is the Cafeteria Manager.  She previously has worked as a receptionist, medical records clerk typist two, dispatch operator and in marketing and sales.  She moved to Atlanta and attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. She graduated with honors receiving her Associates of Science.

Tonya Randall, Lower School Dean
Tonya currently serves as the Lower School Dean. She previously taught at Booker T. Washington High School and KIPP South Fulton Academy.  While at KSFA, she held the position as the Dean of Students and later served as the Upper School Director. Tonya received a BS degree in Mathematics from Spelman College and a MS degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University.

Tommy Robinson, Front Office Coordinator
Tommy is the Front Office Coordinator. Previously, he served as Program Enrichment Coordinator for The Study Hall Inc., a non-profit educational program located in the greater Atlanta Peoplestown community. Tommy attended Morris Brown College and one year later transferred to Caver Bible College where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies/Christian Education with a concentration in Christian Leadership. He is presently the Pastor of New Hampton Baptist Church of Atlanta.

Sonia Simpson, 7th Grade Science Teacher
Sonia serves as the seventh grade science teacher.  Previously, she served as a founding member of the KIPP Vision Academy Advisory Council. Sonia has several years of experience teaching middle grades sciences as well as designing and administering science enrichment programs.  She has a BA in Child Development from Spelman College and an MA in Science Curriculum from Clark Atlanta University.  

Trevor Small, Culture Assistant
Trevor is the Culture Assistant at KIPP Vision Academy. Previously, Trevor served as the lead teacher at The Village Early Learning Center, and counselor for the YMCA Primetime After School Program. Trevor spent the first two years of his college career at Virginia State University studying Early Childhood Education, then moved to Atlanta to finish at Atlanta Technical College.

Amber Stewart, Gifted Coordinator
Amber is the Gifted Coordinator for KIPP STRIVE Academy and KIPP Vision Academy.  She began her career as a first grade teacher with Teach for America. Amber graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Alison Stokes, 5th Grade Reading Teacher
Alison Stokes is a Fifth Grade Reading Teacher at KIPP Vision Academy. She has nine years of teaching experience in multiple grade levels. She received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Auburn University and her Master’s degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Urban Education at San Diego State University.

Ted West, 6th Grade Reading Teacher
Ted is the 6th grade Reading Teacher. Ted previously worked as an English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher at Lake Oswego Junior High School in Oregon. Prior to this experience, Ted received his Master's in English and in Education at the University of Oregon, where he also taught college composition.

Laura White, Teacher Fellow
Laure is currently serving as a Teacher Fellow. She previously worked as a substitute teacher in Hardin Co., KY and a part time ESL teacher at Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, Arizona. Laura receive a B.A. in English from Mississippi University for Women.
