KIPP Metro Atlanta’s commitment to our scholars does not end with high school graduation. KIPP Through College provides the critically-important support needed to ensure that students gain acceptance into the best colleges for their individual dreams and needs, and that these hard-earned college acceptances turn into college degrees. We guide our high school scholars and their families through the college admissions, choice, and financial aid processes to ensure access to a college that is a good fit. Then, we follow our graduates all the way through college to make sure they have the academic, social, and financial supports they need to persist to graduation. We also provide less intensive programming for lower grades, including college exposure visits and parent education to help families get an early start on financial and other planning for college.
Many of our students are the first in their families to apply to and attend college, and KIPP Through College provides critical support to our students and alumni and their families on this journey.
Our region supports over 1,000 alumni, including college-age alumni and high school students who graduated from one of our KIPP middle schools but do not attend KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. This is in addition to our student enrollment of over 3,250 KIPPsters who receive services from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Here’s what our alumni have accomplished so far:
93% of KIPP Atlanta Collegiate’s class of 2015 graduated high school on time (official Class of 2016 results coming soon!)
89% OF KIPP ATLANTA COLLEGIATE SCHOLARS HAVE MATRICULATED INTO COLLEGE, NEARLY 2X THE RATE OF STUDENTS FROM Underserved COMMUNITIES
$8,152,190 in scholarships awarded to our 2016 KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Graduating Class
68% of our first KIPPsters – the ones who founded our fifth grade program in 2003 –HAVE GRADUATED OR ARE STILL PERSISTING TO AND THROUGH COLLEGE
