2018 Annual Report
KIPP Friends & Family,
As we near the end of 2018, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past school year and look forward to the future. As part of that reflection, I am excited to share an overview of the 2017-18 school year with you. In addition to the summaries of our state testing and financial statements below, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide a deeper and different glimpse into the amazing work happening throughout our region over the course of the school year. Our students, families, and team members come together every day united around the same goal: college and a choice-filled life. There are numerous factors that go into that goal throughout the year, from the number of books our students read to the number of miles our buses travel taking students to and from school.
In addition to educating 3,669 students in eight schools, we also spent last year preparing for our next phase of growth as a region. KIPP Soul Primary School opened in July 2018 and in July 2019 our KIPP teachers and leaders will begin managing Woodson Park Academy, a K-5 neighborhood school, in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools. These are the first two steps on our path to educating 7,000 students in 14 schools.
In closing, I want to thank you for partnering with us on this journey. We know that the need for high-quality, college-preparatory education is great and I am honored to be able to work with our entire team & family to expand this opportunity for even more Atlanta families.
Fiscal Year 2018 Financials
Fourth Grade Georgia Milestones End of Grade Results
During the 2017-18 school year, two of our KIPP Metro Atlanta elementary schools took the fourth grade Georgia Milestones. Students performed similarly to their Atlanta Public School peers. We look forward to future years when the results will reflect even more of our students and schools.
Eighth Grade Georgia Milestones End of Grade Results
KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools’ eighth grade students consistently outperformed their Atlanta Public School peers and had mixed results compared to the state. We are proud of our students’ accomplishments and continue to focus on raising the bar for all students.
High School Georgia Milestones End of Course Results
KIPP Atlanta Collegiate students largely outperformed their Atlanta Public School peers. We remain committed to raising the rigor for all students and look forward to seeing the impact of the AP For All implementation.
KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools is deeply grateful for the support from donors who are committed to the growth, quality, and success of our schools, and who share our belief that great education transforms lives.
