KIPP WAYS Primary (KWP) is the eighth KIPP school in Metro Atlanta, opening its doors to an inaugural class of 108 Kindergarteners in July 2014. We currently offer grades K-4. KIPP WAYS Primary is located in the same facility as KIPP WAYS Academy in West Atlanta, and together the schools on this campus will provide students in the Washington Park, Vine City, and English Avenue neighborhoods with a seamless K-8 college preparatory experience.
The mission of KIPP WAYS Primary School is to prepare scholars for top quality middle schools, high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond by instilling in each scholar a commitment to excellence, perseverance, teamwork, love, joy and other “WAYS” to success. The scholars and staff shall uphold the values of the school to develop the intrinsic motivation and habits that will enable all scholars to realize the mission of the school.
The academic program of KIPP WAYS Primary is focused on building core foundational academic skills in phonics, reading, writing, and math, enhanced by targeted exposure and instruction in science, social studies, enrichment and character skills. Community building is a key part of the culture and emphasis of the school. This focus both develops and supports important character skills that are the foundation for success both inside and outside of the classroom.
The vision of KIPP WAYS Primary is to create a safe and loving environment that celebrates each scholar’s unique and individual identities. By knowing our scholars’ individual strengths, areas of growth, and personal stories, we will foster a school community where students embrace their talents and walk with the confidence necessary to succeed in college and make a positive impact in the world. Five core values aligned to our vision will drive our success.
